The first step in selling your wine is to get an estimate of what it is worth. Our free Self Valuation Tool lets you search over 50,000 wines and see instant auction estimates drawn from nearly 2 million Australian auction sales records. You can also browse our Historic Wine Values database going back to 1997, or have Sterling do the valuation for you.
Send your list of wines by email, or call our offices on (08) 9388 9955 or FREE CALL 1800 800 959 to speak to our valuer. We will respond within 48 hours with our list of current auction estimates.
Reserve prices are confidential, agreed upon in advance of the auction, and understood as the minimum selling price. Sterling prefers to set reserves at a fair market value based on previous sales. If a vendor has great confidence that their wine will sell above historic prices, Sterling will use the higher reserve but may charge a fee if the stock does not sell. Please call us if you want further information on reserve prices for any wine.
Sterling offers the lowest overall vendor commission rates in Australia, beginning as low as 10%. Actual commission rates depend on the quantity and value of the wines offered, whether reserves are used or not and the ease of cataloguing. The vendor commission is deducted from the selling or hammer price. This charge is payable only when the wine is sold and there is no charge for items that are not sold. In addition there is no minimum handling fee and the commission includes the cost of cataloguing. Please contact Sterling to discuss your commission rates.
